Emily Duval

Sophomore from Merrimack, NH // Intended Educational Studies Major with a concentration in Language, Literacy, and Culture

I am thrilled to volunteer with SiDES this semester, as I have a yearning to study the relationships between Educational Studies and Spanish – and what better way to learn than to teach? Outside of class, I’m an active leader in the Quest Scholars Network and the First Scholars program, which serve low-income and first-generation students on campus. I’m also a Bonner Scholar; last year I volunteered at the Ada Jenkins LEARNWorks program as a homework tutor and mentor for first and second grade students. I enjoy reading, baking, listening to music, and traveling. Next year I hope to study abroad in Chile and Argentina to further nurture my love of Spanish. Fun Fact: In high school I conducted the marching band for two years! (I also played flute and oboe).
